PrintIT! 2012/2013

Students will plan a print-based campaign on behalf of Fairtrade and gain an understanding of a range of careers available in the modern, high-technology printing and related industries. MakeIT! Wood 2012/2013

MakeIT! Wood is a curriculum mapped programme for GCSE and A Level Resistant Materials and Product Design students. It introduces students to the Wood Industry by exploring modern methods of manufacturing with timber products and investigating laminated wood. Click on 'Register for this competition' to take part.

DigIT! To BuildIT! 2012/2013

Through mapping to Year 9 Geography, GCSE Science, and A Level Geology, DigIT! To BuildIT! aims to familiarise students with the Extractives and Building Products industries. Students are asked to research materials used in the construction process, identify their origins, and recommend eco-friendly, sustainable alternatives. DesignIT! Glass 2012/2013

The DesignIT! Glass Programme is mapped to Year 9 Design Technology, GCSE & A level Product Design, and the Diplomas in Construction & Built Environment and Manufacturing & Product Design. Students are familiarised with the Glass industry through researching and designing glass products, and investigating the manufacture of different types of glass as well as its many and varied uses. DesignIT! Ceramics 2012/2013

DesignIT! Ceramics maps to GCSE & A Level Art & Design and the Diplomas in Creative & Media and Manufacturing & Product Design. Students are familiarised with the Ceramics Industry through researching and designing a product, identifying origins of raw materials, and showing an understanding of environmental issues in the glazed ceramics industry. MakeIT! Furniture 2012/2013

Through curriculum mapping to GCSE and A Level Resistant Materials and Product Design, MakeIT! Furniture aims to familiarise students with the Furniture, Furnishings & Interiors industry. Students will research and design products, identify the sustainable design and raw materials used, and produce a finished pieces of furniture. MakeIT!
